I moved into my dorm room at about 10 am. I was the first in my room thus I picked the side of the room I wanted (I picked the side away from the door). Meeting my roommate was exciting. I had been looking forward to that day for a while. Our talks through the ever helpful Facebook made her seem like a very likable girl, which she is.
Feelings of that day: frustration and sorrow and happiness. Frustration for my two brothers who were going to tear each other limb from limb by the end of the week. Sorrow for leaving my mother and father behind and happiness for moving on with my life.
That night we had a second round of orientation called Summit that got the new students acquainted with campus and with others. That night was rough. After the president's welcome speech, I was left all by myself to mingle with people who were to concerned to catch up with their friends from high school than to talk with me. I soon found myself at the hotel where my family was staying and stayed there with my mom until the men came back from their adventure.
I did know one person at the University before I moved in. We have known each other since we were babies but have only seen each other a few times in our life so far. We were both excited to move into the same campus together after being apart for 18 years but things haven't worked out as well as we hoped. But we still make it work. We slowly are getting used to the fact that each other is here and trying to incorporate spending time with each other and with other friends as well.
